The AGM. As per usual
we had a range of wines presented by the committee. Something for
everyone
Champ Libre – Chenin
Blanc 2016. Loire (Majestic, £9.99)
Cune Rioja – Viura.
Spain (Various - £10.99)
Bonterra - Chardonnay
2017. California (Various - £13.50)
Kuhlmann Platz -
Gewurztraminer 2017. Alsace (Majestic, £9.99)
Gunderbacher
Stromberger – Lemburger (Blaufrankisch) 2017. Wurtemberg. Germany
(Lidl, £5.99)
Chateau St Roch.
Chimieres 2016. Cote de Roussillon Villages, France (Vivino £11.30)
Torres Celeste -
Tempranillo 2015. Ribiera Del Duoro Spain (Waitrose £12.50)
Norton Winemakers -
Malbec 2016. Mendoza, Argentina (Waitrose £13)
These are all wines at
slghtly premium prices (except one) – perhaps a step more than
everyday drinking prices. 3 stood out – The German Lemburger at
£5.99 is (or was) a real steal. But its all sold out apparently. The
Bonterra is one for those who still like the full on oaky Chardonnay
style. The Gewurztraminer at less than a tenner is worth buying –
it is not a wine that's easy to find at such a good price.
